Strand woven natural bamboo flooring offers many advantages to the consumer and to the environment. First of all, its important to consider how bamboo is grown and harvested. While trees have to be killed in order to harvest wood, bamboo is a kind of grass and can thus be harvested without killing the plant. This means the bamboo does not need to be replanted and ensures that the very same bamboo plants can provide material for future years to come. On top of this, bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the whole world, meaning its not only sustainable but incredibly efficient. Bamboo can grow to a fully mature plant in as little as three to five years and its yield per year is almost 20 times higher than that of traditional timber.

Natural bamboo flooring has been used for many centuries in tropical regions all over the world. It is an obvious building and flooring material because of its wide availability and its ability to stand up to moisture and humidity. This ability to deal with moisture and its overall durability makes it ideal for using in basements or other wet areas. Bamboo is flexible, lightweight, and one of the cheapest building materials around due to its abundance.

Similar to carbonised flooring, both types are made out of woven bamboo but have a couple big differences. The carbonised flooring has a colour that appears more similar to hardwood that is brought about by the carbonisation process. While this process changes the colour, it also weakens the flooring a bit. Solid bamboo flooring has a more natural appearance and offers more wear resistance than the carbonised flooring.

Our bamboo flooring is micro bevelled on all four sides, which makes it easy to install with our tongue and groove installation system. We offer secret nails and flooring adhesive so you have multiple options for installing your bamboo flooring. Our lengths are a fixed size of 1.95 metres per board but remember to order 5-10 % more than your rooms square footage to account for cuts and wasted material.

Our natural bamboo flooring offers many personal and environmental advantages over traditional hardwood flooring. If it sounds like something you may be interested in, feel free to request some flooring samples to be sent right to your home. Sometimes seeing the flooring sample next to your wall colours and furniture can make all the difference in deciding what floor is right for you.
