Laminate Flooring Warranty & Installation Guide
1. This warranty applies only where the product has been:
Installed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
Installed on a suitable, dry and level subfloor
Maintained within recommended environmental conditions
Used for normal residential indoor use
2. What This Warranty Covers
This warranty covers verified manufacturing defects including:
Locking system failure caused by production fault
Structural instability of boards
Delamination of laminate layers due to manufacturing defect
Surface wear-through under normal domestic use
If a valid defect is confirmed, Easy Step Flooring will supply replacement material of equal specification.
3. What This Warranty Does Not Cover
This warranty does not cover:
Surface scratches or dents
Impact damage
Water damage or flooding
Excessive moisture exposure
Incorrect installation
Subfloor movement
Damage from pets, furniture or grit
Staining or chemical damage
Colour change due to sunlight
Commercial use unless specifically stated
Laminate flooring is moisture-resistant, not waterproof (unless specified as waterproof range). Prolonged water exposure will cause swelling and is not covered.
4. Installer Responsibilities
The installer is responsible for:
Inspecting all boards prior to installation
Rejecting visibly defective boards
Confirming subfloor suitability
Leaving correct expansion gaps
Ensuring environmental conditions meet requirements
Any board installed is deemed accepted in appearance and condition.
Easy Step Flooring accepts no liability for visibly defective boards once fitted.
5. Manufacturing Tolerances
Laminate flooring is manufactured within industry tolerances.
Permitted dimensional tolerance: ±0.5mm – 1mm
Up to 5% variation within a pack is considered acceptable.
Boards outside tolerance must be set aside prior to installation.
6. Site Conditions Prior to Installation
Before installation:
Property must be weather-tight
Wet trades completed
Heating system operational
Subfloor dry and stable
Room temperature: 18°C–27°C
Relative humidity: 40%–70%
Laminate flooring must acclimatise in the room of installation for a minimum of 24 hours.
Room temperature must be maintained for at least 48 hours after installation.
7. Subfloor Requirements
Subfloors must be:
Clean
Dry
Structurally sound
Flat (max 3mm deviation over 2m)
Free from movement
Concrete subfloors: Maximum 85% RH during installation (tested to industry standard).
Dust, oil, paint residues and contaminants must be removed.
Where required, levelling compound must be suitable for intended load.
Underlay must be appropriate for laminate flooring.
8. Expansion Gaps
Laminate flooring must be installed as a floating floor.
A minimum 2mm expansion gap must be left around:
All walls
Pipes
Door frames
Columns
Thresholds
For irregular-shaped rooms (L, T, U shapes), expansion joints must be incorporated.
Expansion profiles must be fixed to the wall or subfloor — never through the laminate planks.1. Easy Step Flooring Laminate Warranty
Easy Step Flooring warrants that its laminate flooring products are free from manufacturing defects at the time of purchase.
We provide:
25-Year Residential Warranty
(Subject to the terms outlined below)
Failure to allow expansion will result in lifting or buckling and is not covered.
9. Underfloor Heating
Laminate flooring may be used over water-based underfloor heating systems where approved.
Conditions:
Maximum surface temperature: 27°C
Subfloor must be level and stable
Heating must be turned off 24 hours before installation
Temperature must be increased gradually after installation
Failure to follow heating protocol voids warranty.
10. Claims Procedure
If you believe a defect exists:
Notify Easy Step Flooring in writing within 14 days of discovery
Provide proof of purchase
Provide photographs
Provide installation details
We reserve the right to inspect the flooring before approving any claim.
If valid, replacement material only will be supplied.
The warranty does not cover:
Labour costs
Removal costs
Reinstallation costs
Consequential losses
11. Limitation of Liability
This warranty applies only to the original purchaser.
Replacement material may vary in shade due to batch variation.
If the original product is discontinued, an equivalent specification product will be supplied.
